Yesterday, former President Donald J. Trump was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Thank God he is okay.
Watching videos of the event there are comments from the polarized media both criticizing and praising Trump's immediate reaction to pump his fist and say, "Fight, fight, fight!" to a crowd of nearly 40,000 onlookers letting them know he is okay. People of faith believe there was "divine intervention" that moved the bullet milometers to the left saving his life. It brings back memories of previous assignations and attempts against other presidential and political icons (see photo).
Many watching the event live or remotely may report Post Traumatic Stress symptoms and a deep sense of not being safe. For those who already have PTSD, this could be a triggering event to exacerbate what is already problematic, we at Encouragers Counseling & Training Centers are here to help. First responders, military, and medical personnel and anyone experiencing emotional dysregulation over this event can call us if you need some emotional support (951-900-4414). We will have additional staff working the phones Monday throughout the day to support anyone who calls.
I pray for our president's rapid recovery, for his family, and for our nation. I also pray for you.
